Congratulations to the Marching Band for a wonderful performance on October 6th.  
Job well done.  

For those who missed out, these fantastic students took 2 place overall 
at the Kempsville Band Classic.  This is a great accomplishment !!! 

Thank you to all who came out last Thursday to the picnic.  It was great to
see everyone and see the kids having such a great time -

I would like to thank all who have volunteered their time on Friday night to
help with the pit and the program sells....  Way to go Annett for getting
the program put together.

WITH THE START OF SCHOOL NEXT WEEK - THERE IS STILL A TREMENDOUS NEED FOR
PEOPLE TO STAFF THE BOOKSTORE - The store is manned before school - and just
after school.

Greetings and welcome to a busy year!

I hope that by now, you have all had the opportunity to read the letter
that Mr. Lane sent home with the students.  If you didn’t see it – it is
posted on the website (www.coxband.com).  I understand completely that
our children don’t always see the importance of passing info on to their
parents…. as a matter of fact, I found it in my daughter’s music folder.

Running the entire band program is a HUGE PROJECT and requires a large
number of volunteers.  However, volunteers are what are lacking.
Fortunately, we are blessed to have a small group that does whatever is
needed.  However, that number has dwindled as many of the volunteers
graduated with their children this past spring. 

                 Some of the needs for volunteers are as follows:

Sending in fruit for band camp
Chaperones for competitions – both for marching and concert band/ wind
ensemble
Managing the Entertainment book sales.
Selling programs at the home football games.

          The bookstore – THIS IS SINGLY THE BIGGEST FUNDRAISER for the
entire program. 

 Volunteers are needed to staff the store directly before and after
school.
Volunteers are also needed to make the “BJs” run to purchase the goods
we sell.


I could go on and on about the activities of the Band Boosters – but
sometimes brevity is best. 

I ask nothing more than to have you get involved.  The children in the
band program work extremely hard.  As parents, I believe, we need to
support them. 

RESERVE THE DATE OF AUGUST 6  @ 6 PM.  Join us for a brief parent
meeting at the beginning of practice.
