Symphonic Band is a non-audition band class offered at Cox High School. This ensemble performs mainly grade III and IV music. In addition to class rehearsals during school, the Symphonic Band meets Thursdays afterschool from 2:15-4:15 several times before each performance. Although some students do choose to remain in Symphonic Band, most work their way up to Advanced Wind Ensemble. Students in the Symphonic Band are encouraged to take private lessons and to try out for District Band. In addition to concerts at the school, the Symphonic Band performs each year at the District Band Festival. For the past two years the band has received straight superiors at the Band Festival.
