¯Band Program¯ 2425 SHOREHAVEN DRIVE VIRGINIA BEACH, VA Mr. Lane is a 2001 graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in music education. He is entering his sixth year as a band director and comes to Frank W. Cox High School after one year of directing Kellam High School's band. During his tenure at Kellam High School, Mr. Lane's band received superior ratings at competitions throughout the southeast in both concert and marching as well as having a jazz ensemble that performed at various public events, regional competitions, and local concerts. During the 2005-2006 school year the Kellam band received the distinction of being a Virginia Honor band for only the seventh time in the school's forty four year history under Mr. Lane's direction. Before coming to Virginia, Mr. Lane was director of bands at Farmville Central High School in Farmville, North Carolina for three years as well as Farmville Middle School for two of those three years. Under his direction the Farmville band programs consistently received superior ratings in both concert and marching band. The marching band won over 100 trophies in three seasons as well as two grand champion awards. Before taking the position at Farmville, Mr. Lane was the co-director of bands at Northern Nash High School and Nash Central Junior High School in Rocky Mount, North Carolina in 2001-2002. He has performed with the DCI World finalist Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps in 1995 and 1996 as well as the Independent World Class percussion ensemble Carolina Thunder, both from Charlotte, NC. While at East Carolina Mr. Lane performed with the ECU Symphony Orchestra, the ECU Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band, the concert band, the percussion players, the ECU Steel Orchestra, and the ECU Percussion ensemble. He has performed concerts in Prague, Czech Republic, and Vienna, Austria, and was a member of the ECU Percussion Ensemble featured in a special concert at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. His teachers have included Dr. Scott Carter, Mark Ford, Harold Jones, Christopher Deane, and Dr. Jonathon Wacker. He is a member of the Music Educators National Conference, Virginia Music Educators Association, Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, Virginia Beach Education Association, Percussive Arts Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia professional music fraternity.
